Mommy's getting political

A couple of weeks ago Mommy had to take a trip to Washington DC. She left us in the hands of Daddy for 4 days! It's the longest she's been away from us- ever! Daddy get a good job though while she was away.

Since Mommy is going to be president of her state's professional landscape architecture group she had to go to Washington to learn "the ropes". While she was there they went to the hill and talked to Indiana's senators and two congressmen about climate change, the importance of planting trees in cities, and funding for historic landscapes. Mommy spent the whole day walking back and forth from building to building to meet with these people. She said it was fun, but very tiring. Her feet really hurt by the end of the day!
The other fun part of her trip was seeing the green roof on the ASLA's headquarter building. Mommy said that when they renovated the building they decided to show the world the right way to do things, so they planted the roof with various plants. The roof was planted three years ago and is finally taking off. The big mounds (or waves) in the picture were actually built to hide the mechanical units on the roof. They then built a little shelf to hold soil and rocks. The plants that were chosen love dry/rocky soils so they are perfect for the roof! There is also a nice deck built with a little table and chairs. It has a nice view of Washington DC too!

We are glad Mommy had a nice trip, but we are really glad she's home. Elizabeth and I missed her!

No peas please...

Next week is my 6 month birthday- can you believe it! Mommy can't believe how big I'm getting. I can now roll over really good. I only roll from my front to my back right now, but it keeps me from doing tummy time, which I hate. I also figured out that I have not one, but two feet! I haven't figured out how to put them into my mouth yet, but I like just grabbing them and taking my socks off. It frustrates Mommy to have to put my socks on all the time, but I think it's fun.

Last weekend was my baptism. We had a bunch of family come in and I got to meet my great aunt and uncle, and my cousin Megan too. Mommy and Daddy were proud of me because I didn't cry at all during church. Instead I just smiled at the priest while he dumped water on me. It was a big day!

My other big excitement is that I get to eat actual food now. So far I've tried peas and carrots. I don't like peas, but I love carrots! I can't wait to see what Mommy is going to let me try next- I hear fruits are good....

Just a little trim....

Guess what! I got my first haircut today. Mommy and Daddy finally decided to get my hair trimmed so that it was all nice and even in the back. I guess it was time, I am almost three you know. Mommy took me to Cookie Cutters- a place just for kids. They had a bunch of toys to play with, and I got to pick out a movie to watch while I got my hair cut. I picked Elmo- Elmo's my favorite. I got to sit on a horse chair and I did okay for a minute. Once the stylist got my hair wet and started combing my hair I freaked! I cried the whole time, and just wanted to be held by Mommy. Luckily for me, it was all over in about 5 minutes. Now my hair is beautiful- and all even.

Spring has finally arrived in Indianapolis, and boy is it nice. I finally get to play outside again. Mommy took some pictures of me with my friend Miles. Miles is a little younger then me, so I show him all the fun stuff that there is to play with outside. We had a great time when he came over a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully he can come over again and we can play some more.

Not much else is happening with me. I'm getting a lot bigger and am learning new things everyday. My new favorite saying is "Oh my gosh!"- Mommy isn't sure where I learned this, but she guesses it was daycare. I'm almost the oldest kid at daycare now. Only one boy is older then me, and he and I get in trouble a lot. This summer I will get to go to preschool! I'll have to leave Elizabeth, but I'm sure she will be okay. I hope everyone is having a good spring!

I have toes!

It's been an exciting couple of weeks for me. Not only did I figure out how to roll over, but I found my toes! I haven't figured out how to get them into my mouth yet, but I'm sure I will sooner or later. In other exciting news- I got a new toy. Actually it isn't new, because my sister used it when she was little. But it's new to me. It's called an exersaucer. It has all sorts of fun toys around it and the seat spins so I can get to them all. Mommy was surprised that I liked it- but I love the thing! I get to see everyone and I can keep tabs on Mommy, Daddy and Morgan, all from the comfy seat. The only down side is that Morgan likes to spin me around in the seat. I don't think that's very fun at all.

Other then that, my sister and I are getting ready for spring and summer. We can't wait to be able to go outside and play. Morgan even broke out her sunglasses this weekend in preparation. She thought it would be fun to let me wear them for a little while. They fit pretty good.

Shake, Rattle and Roll!

It's official- Elizabeth can roll over. She did it once a while ago, but Mommy didn't get to see, so every since Mommy has been trying to get her to do it again. So the other night, Mommy put her on her stomach, and she immediately rolled over. Mommy said it was her way of saying " I don't like to be on my stomach!" She did it again the night after that too. Mommy says that now that Elizabeth can move, she is going to roll away from me when I pick on her. Lucky for me I can run!

On a different note- Mommy still thinks it's fun to compare pictures of me and Elizabeth. She thinks we still look a lot a like. See for yourself.

Can you tell which one is me, and which one is Elizabeth? Elizabeth is on top, and I'm the one on the bottom. It's kind of freaky isn't it.

As for me, I'm still learning all sorts of new things. My favorite song is "Ittsy, Bitsy Spider" and Mommy and I sing it on the way to daycare almost everyday! I also love to talk on the phone. I like to call Mimi and Papaw and my Grandma in Florida. Sometimes I call them without Mommy and Daddy seeing me use the phone. And the best thing of all- I'm using the potty on a pretty regular basis. I finally figured out that every time I go on the potty I get candy. I figured that was a pretty good deal.

Rogaine for babies???

Do they make Rogaine for babies? I think I might need some. I was born with a ton of hair and now I'm losing it! Mommy says that I have the opposite of old man hair. I have plenty on the top, but the sides are getting thin. Actually I'm pretty close to having a mohawk, because I have a long piece in the back. Every day Mom finds more and more little black hairs on me, on my blankets...everywhere. What's a girl to do? Hopefully it stops soon, otherwise I'm going to be bald by the time I'm one. Mommy still says I'm cute, but I'm worried about my beautiful locks. So if anyone sees Rogaine for babies will you let me know?

Now weighing in.....

Mommy says that I am soooooooo big now! But not nearly as big as my sister. Mommy got us to lay side by side to take a picture. Morgan is much bigger, but I'm gaining on her. Mommy took me to my four month check up this week and even the doctor said I had a growth spurt. I now weigh in at a whopping 15.5 pounds and I'm 23 3/4" tall! That's almost 2 feet! And for all those people that keep making fun of my fat rolls, the doctor said I had all the right kind of fat, and that I looked perfect! She said Mommy was taking good care of me. The doctors did make me incredibly mad though by looking in my ears and then by giving me four shots! That's just not nice to do- what did I ever do to them.

Other then growing I'm doing all the normal baby things. I've started to learn how to roll over. I keep getting hung up on my arms though. But by turning the lower half of my body over I've figured out how to turn around in a circle. I keep Mommy and Daddy on their toes. Because they will put me on my back facing one way, and when they look at me again I've turned 90 degrees! It's pretty fun.

As for my sister, she's busy learning how to use the potty. Mommy says she's tired of changing diapers and since I can't walk, Morgan has to learn. She's doing really good so far. Now that she has figured out that she gets candy whenever she uses the potty, she wants to go all the time. Keep your fingers crossed that she keeps going!
