So this summer the girls found the hula-hoop. They had played with them at a couple of places and so I finally broke down and bought two for the backyard. Morgan took to it pretty fast, and Elizabeth tried to mimic her sister the best she could. At the beginning of the summer Morgan couldn't do it for too long, but these videos were taken near the end and as you can see Morgan has it mastered. I especially like the comment "Can I stop now?" because she can go on and on and on....
Elizabeth on the other hand isn't as skilled in the art of hula-hooping (or hoop-a-looping). I'm not sure if it's the lack of hips, or she lacks the coordination, but she sure does give it a try. By the end of the summer she took to just shaking her whole body in order to keep the hoop up as long as possible.
Maybe to get us through the winter months I will show them the hula-hoop game on the Wii Fit...that might keep them occupied for a solid 15 minutes!
So I realized that I haven't updated the blog in awhile- so I figured I better get to it! We've been keeping busy this summer so I will try and update on all of our activities at some point. But as I was searching through pictures and videos I found this one that I thought everyone might enjoy. Every time we go to the park Morgan has desperately wanted to do the monkey bars. For a few years I would help her across by supporting her entire body weight- but ultimately she wanted to do it herself. Well finally this summer she has mastered the monkey bars!
About a month ago we went to the park and I was sitting on the bench when she ran up and told me that she did it! I really didn't believe her because up to this point she hadn't been able to get to the next rung but I went over to the monkey bars and watched....and guess what I saw.....
That's right! Morgan did it. So now every time we go to the park and almost everyday at recess Morgan plays on the monkey bars non-stop.
The Outdoor Explorer's Program is Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30. Two days a week they are bussed to a field trip location (normally local parks) and on Wednesdays is swimming day. The other two days they have a pretty low key day with lots of playing, exploring, hiking and on Friday's the have a camp fire with roasted hot dog and s'mores!
We've been doing lots of other things too- Children Museum visits, playing on our swing set, watching movies, reading books and Morgan finished Kindergarten! We have some other special things we've been working on but I am saving those for a post in the near future. Hopefully everyone is caught up on the happenings at the Clark house- gotta run, we have more fun stuff to do!
