Spring is here...well it was for a week.

One Sunday morning, while I was trying to keep the girls occupied I discovered Morgan's old sunglasses in a drawer. I took them out and immediately gave them to Elizabeth. I thought she might play with them for a minute and then get bored but I was wrong. She loves these sunglasses. She even knew exactly what to do with them. She put them on and started running around. To further enhance the look I figured her hair was long enough to attempt pigtails. Well she must have been so excited by her look that she decided to pose...
She spent the better part of the morning, sitting by the fireplace with her book and her sunglasses. She was perfectly happy. The pigtails even lasted a few hours!
After awhile, she found Morgan's cell phone and it made her look even better! It wasn't long before Morgan figured out that Elizabeth now had a hold of her sunglasses and her phone- let's just say both ended up back in the drawer for awhile to avoid any fights.
For the past couple of weeks we have had really great weather. Spring is almost here! One Saturday while Greg was busy working in the garage we decided to visit the park to burn off some energy. We went to West Park in Carmel, mainly because we hadn't been there in a long time and I knew there was a great playground area and a lot of room for the girls to run. So we packed up the car and went. When we got there I decided to let Morgan go to the top of the sledding hill. This is the view of Elizabeth running beside me to the hill...
This is Morgan...notice, she is much farther away. She didn't really want to wait around for us. Once she got to the bottom of the hill she climbed up all the rocks by herself! Eventually Elizabeth and I caught up to here- mainly because I carried Elizabeth because she kept falling down.
After the sledding hill we headed over to the playground. Once we got close Morgan took off to check out the giant slide shaped like a farm silo. While she played Elizabeth hung back and just checked it all out. I kept finding her standing really still and just staring at the kids while they played. It was mesmerizing for her.
We checked out the swings while we were there. Morgan even learned how to swing herself by moving her legs. She still liked it better when I pushed her...
Elizabeth loved the swing too.
I think we will have to visit this park again soon!

Mommy- The peecas are lost

This past weekend we made the trek to Evansville. We left shortly after lunch on Friday and within 20 minutes of being in the car Morgan asked if we were there yet. She asked us if we were there numerous times, and after while she declared "Mimi and Papaw live too far away!" After about 2 hours in the car, both girls desperately needed a nap and were irritable. So Mommy climbed in the back seat and did what Mommy's do best- find ways to entertain the kids with whatever she can find! The camera held their interest for awhile and I was able to snap these shots of the girls in the car.

Morgan didn't really want to have her picture taken...
After finally getting there we rested up and on Saturday we decided to enjoy the 70 degree weather and visited the Evansville Zoo. It really was the perfect sized zoo for Morgan, it was small enough that we got to see it all without her getting tired in the middle and it had all the cool exhibits.
When we got there I asked Morgan what animal she really wanted to see. She replied "I want to see the Baby Jaguar." Now for those of you that have kids you will realize that there is a baby Jaguar on the Go Diego Go show. She loves Dora and Diego so of course she wanted to see a Jaguar. I told her I didn't think they had one, but we would see. Low and behold- they had one!

We also checked out the giraffes. Here is Morgan trying to feed the giraffe a stick.... She was pretty excited by this.

While we were walking, we passed a cage with some peacocks. Obviously you can't keep a bird in a caged area because they can fly. So while we were standing there the peacocks flew out of the cage and started walking on the path. Morgan was very interested in this and decided to follow the peacock. She walked behind them for awhile and we ended up in this little seating area, where there were a couple of peacock. Morgan got a little worried and kept telling me the "Peecas were lost..." she really wanted to help them. Not sure where she wanted to put them, or what exactly she was going to do, but I convinced her that the peecas were not lost.

We checked out the rainforest area where the birds are in open areas that you can walk up to. The screeched really loud and Morgan was not a fan.

We checked out the children's area and Morgan dressed up like a bat.

By the end of the visit, Morgan was telling me she was really tired and that her legs really hurt. So we had a good nap that afternoon. And for those wondering how Miss Elizabeth liked the zoo....well she got to see the sites in the comfort of her stroller.....

This is how accidents happen....

It's been cold in Indianapolis so we try to find any and all ways to play inside. Most of the time the girls figure out ways to entertain themselves. On one fateful Sunday while I was changing the sheets on their beds, they decided to play with the sheets and blankets before I could put them in the laundry. Now this seemed like a fairly tame activity...

It started innocently enough with Morgan throwing a blanket on her sister....

It then progressed to rolling around in the pile of sheets and blankets on the ceramic tile floor...

The blanket throwing continued...That lump under the blanket Morgan is holding is her sister...

They then proceeded to jump onto the pile of blankets, while throwing them on each other....

Elizabeth really got into the action and threw herself onto the floor numerous times...

Little did she know that the more you throw yourself onto the pile, the more the pile moves and flattens out. This was one of the last times she flopped down....

This was the scene shortly after flopping....it seems that most of her body made it onto the blankets. Her face however hit the floor...
In desperate search of Mommy...The escapade got Elizabeth a nice black eye. But it hasn't stopped her from flopping down on soft fluffy objects. These kids are resilient!

Dancing With the Stars....

Well okay maybe she isn't a star yet, and she doesn't have a celebrity dance partner but Morgan loves to dance. I was lucky enough to catch this little number on film and thought I would share it. Enjoy!

Snow Day!

For those that know Morgan you already know that she has been anxiously awaiting snow. So far this year we only had a couple of snow falls that resulted in maybe an inch at best. Every time it snowed she would ask if we could go outside and play, or make a snowman. Every time we had to tell her that there wasn't enough snow. There were even nights that the weather men were predicting snow so we would tell Morgan about it, she would get excited only to be let down the next morning.

Well finally we got snow. Earlier this week nearly a foot of snow was dumped on Carmel! Wednesday we were snowed in because neither Greg or I could get our cars out of the subdivision. So we declared a snow day! Which meant that Miss Morgan finally got to play outside. She was incredibly patient because I made her wait until the sun came up to go outside- she was ready to go at 6:30am!

First we had to get suited up. Since we didn't have an actual snow suit we put together boots, a hat, mittens and her coat. And yes this is Elizabeth's hat, but it was the only thing I could find!

Then we finally made it outside. You can see how much snow there was. Greg made a path on the sidewalk so we could get out. Otherwise we wouldn't have been able to move.
The Morgan decided she wanted to make snowballs. Here is her attempt at making a "big one!"
And this is her attempt at throwing it.
While we were playing Greg was busy shoveling the driveway. Morgan must have realized that this was hard work because she then wanted to help.

She would have been out there all day shoveling. But her attempts were appreciated. All in all we had a fun snow day. Morgan didn't last too long outside- because she got cold and was ready to come in. We weren't able to make a snow man. Mainly because we couldn't walk in the snow. It was way to deep! We all had fun. Even Belle!

Clark Family Update- Morgan Style

Since Elizabeth got her own post I figured Morgan deserved one too. She has been busy doing all sorts of things too. She started by helping us take down the tree and all the decorations. She was somewhat surprised that we had to take it all down, and I think she was a little sad too. Every morning when the tree was up she came down stairs and it was her job to turn the lights on. She got really excited about it- but for a few days after the tree was gone she kept asking me "Is Christmas over?". Then as we went around town she would point out all the trees and decorations that were still up.

Since we've been staying inside a lot, we tend to have a lot of lazy days watching cartoons or movies. Probably not the most educational thing in the world, but it gives us an excuse to leave our pajamas on late into the day. This is typically how Morgan watches "her shows"- with her pillow and a blanket. She has to have a blanket.

She has also been keeping herself busy with her new camera she got for Christmas. We are working on teaching her how to make sure she can see whatever she is taking a picture of in the view finder, holding the camera still, and then taking the picture. She's getting better- but she still gets really frustrated when it doesn't go her way.

Of course there is always time to goof off since we are inside. She is getting to be pretty funny in her personality. Some times the things she says to me crack me up! She is also incredibly rational in her thought. She wants to know why she can't do something, and then she will start to put together a case as to why my reason doesn't make sense. Maybe she will be a lawyer one day.
There is always time to goof around with Daddy too.

Morgan has been waiting for snow all year and as I am writing this post we have a foot on the ground. I took plenty of pictures the day Morgan finally got to play outside so those will be up soon.

Clark Family Update- Elizabeth Style

The girls have been busy since Christmas- mainly they are busy getting big, so I thought I would give you updates on both along with new pictures illustrating what they have been up to. Elizabeth went for her 15 month well child check up today and she is doing great! She currently weighs in just under 24 pounds (60% percentile) and is 30" tall (50% percentile) Apparently she is taking after her sister in the height department. Although she comes by it honestly because I'm not very tall either.

I was worried when we went in because at her one year check up the doctor told me that she should know several words by the 15 month check up. So I've been worrying that she was behind- but the doctor said that she communicated very well. Just not with words! Elizabeth has reached the point where she knows what she wants and will do whatever it takes to "tell" you what she wants. Today the doctor has a few tongue depressors to get Elizabeth's attention, and Lizzy wanted them. So she grunted and pointed and made it clear that she wanted those tongue depressors. And low and behold- she got them! After this little display she told me that Lizzy should only know about 3 words, which she does. So I can put aside my worrying for now. Below is a picture of Elizabeth when she doesn't get her point across. She gets incredibly frustrated and throws a full temper tantrum. Some times she ever throws herself on the floor!

Since it has been pretty cold up here (the lowest it got was -12 degrees!) we have been staying inside as much as possible. But when we do go out both girls have to get bundled up. Elizabeth even got a new jacket for Christmas (Thanks Aunt Laura) that she actually doesn't mind wearing. The hat on the other hand she could live without, but it is so cute! Whenever I put it on she yanks on the top and tries to pull it off. Thankfully the velcro under chin keeps it in place.

Since we have been staying inside we have to find lots of things to do to keep ourselves busy. So lately Elizabeth has been playing with some new toys.

She also likes to scream, just to hear herself. And I think she likes to show you all those new teeth she's gotten in the last month.

She likes to play in the diaper basket. Sometimes she even plays with the powder which makes us really mad.

And lately one of her favorite things to carry around Mr. Potato Head. Although most of the time it's just the potato body because she can't find all the pieces.

Hopefully it will be warm soon because I think Elizabeth is running out of things to do inside!
